Bloomington, Indiana

2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Association for Recorded Sound Collections!

For our 50th annual conference, we return to the location of our first one… Bloomington, Indiana! The conference will be held May 11-14, 2016, hosted by Indiana University at Bloomington. The conference theme is « Recorded Sound in the 21st Century: Preserving, Collecting, Collaborating & Connecting. » A two-day audio archiving boot-camp-style pre-conference workshop, based on the recently published ARSC Guide to Audio Preservation will be held on May 10-11 in IU’s new facility for the Media Digitization and Preservation Initiative. Explore some of Bloomington’s local attractions, such as the Hoagy Carmichael Room at the Archives of Traditional Music, the Indiana University Art Museum, Mathers Museum of World Cultures, and WonderLab. Additional details on the conference, pre-conference workshop, and anniversary celebration will appear here as information becomes available.
