2.) impuls . goes online: Vertigo

On March 3rd, IRCAM set up an Online-Panel-Discussion on the topic of „Collaborative Creation“ within its series „Vertigo“.

With the Covid-19 pandemic, the arts are going through an unprecedented crisis that upsets one of the main foundations of their practice: the physical presence of the public. The purpose of this fifth edition of the Vertigo Interdisciplinary Forum bringing together artists and curators is to propose a debate aimed at overcoming the stupor of the profession by presenting original approaches that seek to break free of existing constraints, in particular by means of telepresence technologies. These new topologies of presence in art not only impose themselves on public exposure but also on production: in a context of generalized multidisciplinarity, new modes of collaborative creation are being organized and experimented with.

The panel hosted impuls and Divertimento Ensemble as partners of IRCAM within the Ulysses-Network, as well as composers involved in different forms of collaborative projects in the musical field. The meeting continued with further statements and discussions on „Performing Arts in the Era of the Covid-19 Pandemic“.

4.) impuls . TIPP AI Music Creativity

The 2nd Conference on AI Music Creativity (MuMe + CSMC, 18.-22. July 2021, online)

brings together two overlapping research forums: The Computer Simulation of Music Creativity Conference (est. 2016) and The International Workshop on Musical Metacreation (est. 2012). The objective of the conference is to bring together scholars and artists interested in the emulation and extension of musical creativity through computational means and to provide them with an interdisciplinary platform in which to present and discuss their work in scientific and artistic contexts.

The 2021 Conference on AI Music Creativity will be hosted virtually by the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) of the University of Music and Performing Arts of Graz. The five-day program will feature paper presentations, concerts, workshops, tutorials, sound installations and keynotes by Georgina Born, George E. Lewis and Rebecca Fiebrink.

The Graz-based ensemble Schallfeld will serve as the conference’s ensemble in residence.

The conference comes along with # Call for Papers, # Call for Music and # Call for Workshops and Tutorials (Submission Deadline: 1.4.2021)

Further details can be found below and on the conference website:
