Dear Friends of the ULYSSES Network,

Also the ULYSSES Platform is full of opportunities. All the currently open calls can be found here.

And please stay tuned, as in December we will publish some first insights into our activities for the next year on our Timeline!

Take good care until then, we wish you a colourful and creative autumn,

ULYSSES Online –
#3, #4, #5

Dedicated to the promotion of young talented artists in the field of contemporary music and in reaction to the ongoing difficulties to implement physical gatherings and on-site activities, the ULYSSES Network decided to organize online seminars for its community of young artists, focusing on specific topics related to international career development.

For each meeting, an invited speaker is shortly presenting a specific topic, before the participants get the occasion to discuss together and to address questions. Following the two first meetings in June 2021, the next series of online seminars are scheduled for September and October 2021.

ULYSSES ENSEMBLE TOUR 2021 Stop 3 – Mixtur (ES)

In 2021 the ULYSSES Ensemble and its young international performers have since June been  visiting several European academies and festivals (IRCAM ManiFeste, Fondation Royaumont).

For the 3rd and last stop of the ensemble at Mixtur, Barcelona (ES) the festival has the pleasure to invite Beat Furrer in his dual role of composer and conductor. The young musicians from the ULYSSES Ensemble have the opportunity to work on Furrer’s music, conducted by himself, as well as other pieces from the contemporary repertoire. The activity will culminate with a public concert on the 2nd of October.

Replay cultural Heritage –

Mixtur (ES

The Festival Mixtur annually invites students and teachers from Barcelona schools to closely introduce them to new music and sound creation.

Primary school children are invited to attend rehearsals, were they listen to the performances and interact with the players and/or the composers. They prepare these encounters with the teacher’s help based on active listening, and sound experimentation.

This year, the activities involve among others Elena Perales, who is attending the Festival Mixtur in the framework of her ULYSSES Journey for performers.

ULYSSES Journeys for Performers –

Mixtur (ES)

Mixtur offers a variety of workshops for performers every year given by internationally renowned musicians and composers.
Students work on reference pieces of the contemporary repertoire as well as miniatures written by the Composition Workshop students.

Those workshops culminate in different concerts within the festival’s official program and host two young performers selected in the framework of their ULYSSES Journeys for performers this year: Elena Perales and Riccardo Acciarino. Discover more about the different activities that they are participating in here.

InSitu/City: Paris, Panorama –

In the framework of the InSitu/City activity in Paris (and surroundings), IRCAM is implementing the project PANORAMA through the development of a specific device specially designed for the occasion: a visual and sound work on a touch screen that proposes to the largest possible audience to become at the same time painter and composer, through a journey in the surrounding landscape.

Conceived as an open work, PANORAMA aims to give birth to a digital environment that allows the invited artists to create their own interpretation of the landscape. More detailed information available here.
